Begin your letter:
Dear ,
I object to the practice of putting meat slaughtered with an Islamic declaration or 'Shahada' onto supermarket shelves with no label stating that it has been ritually-slaughtered.
I am aware that this meat is stunned before slaughter and satisfies current animal welfare regulations, so I do not, in your reply, need to be reassured on that point.
It is the Islamic declaration or 'Shahada' to which I take exception. I do not wish unknowingly to eat meat which has been dedicated, whether stunned or not, to Allah.
Therefore I ask you to confirm that you will take steps either to remove all fresh and frozen halal meat from supermarket supply chains or to honestly and transparently label it as 'ritually slaughtered' or 'halal', whether stunned or not.
